The Ravens hold on to all three points despite dominant second half display from The Canaries

Both sides headed into this Premier League Cup fixture knowing that a win could hoist them into the qualification places of group H.

In the last campaign of this competition, these two sides met in the same group, with Bromley ending up victorious on both occasions against The Canaries, with The Ravens riding out 3-2 winners the last time these two sides met at Hayes Lane.

First Half :

It was the visitors who kicked us off at a very crisp Hayes Lane, and The Canaries looked the most threatening in the early stages, just lacking a clear cut sight at the Bromley goal.

However once the hosts grabbed a foothold in the game, it did not take them long to find the opener, as Marcus Dinanga found space in the box to turn and calmly slot The Ravens ahead in the 17th minute. 1-0

Norwich were instantly in search of a moment of magic to get them back on terms. Captain Finley Welch found space to drive through the middle but his effort from 20 yards was dealt with comfortably by Haines in the Bromley goal.

It was deja vu merely moments later as Welch was able to pick up the ball once more in a central area and drive towards goal with ease, but despite a deflected effort on this occasion, Haines did well to get down and prevent the equaliser once more.

But the Canaries persistence paid off on the half an hour mark, when Alan Domeracki’s perfectly swung in corner kick was met by the towering head of Theodore Adelusi who’s emphatic header brought the side from East Anglia level. 1-1

Adelusi could not keep himself off of the scoresheet, unfortunately for Norwich it was at the wrong end of the pitch this time around, as Brooklyn Ilunga’s cross was fired across the box and was turned in by The Canaries goal scorer, to restore The Ravens advantage on 33 minutes. 2-1

Not long after the attacking quartet for Bromley were linking up beautifully again, however Ilunga saw his fierce near-post volley tipped over the bar.

Jemiah Omolu had the final chance of the first period, his effort from range curled inches past the far post, however that was it for the opening 45, and the hosts went in 2-1 leaders.

Second Half :

The sides returned to the pitch with just the one change occurring at the break, Alfie Hilden replacing Joshua Tobin for The Ravens

The visitors looked the most likely in the opening encounters of the second half, with an array of chances being blocked from close range in the first five minutes of the period.

The Canaries rolled the dice in the 59th minute as Toby Chilvers and Luke Towler entered the frame, followed by Freddie Cowin replacing Freddie Taylor three minutes later for the hosts.

Chances seemed to be few and far between in the second period, however Bromley had an own goal scare of their own in the 69th minute as Frankie-Jay Moralee made a mess of his attempted clearance and the ball almost looped over Haines and into his own net.

The ball fell kindly to Tyler Williams on the edge of the penalty area just moments later, his effort fizzed past the post as the search went on for an illusive Norwich equaliser.

A switch for each side was then made in the 71st minute, as Tade Ibrahim replaced Jemiah Umolu for the hosts, and Aidan Bridge replaced Alan Domeracki for the visitors.

Bridge wasted absolutely no time to get involved, his free kick from the edge of the box was deflected just wide of the post.

With five minutes to go in normal time, City made one final switch with Miles Bracking coming on for Chinaza Okwumo.

Finley Welch came incredibly close with the final kick off the game, a last minute corner was cleared to the edge of the box, and his volley flew inches away from the top left corner.

Despite a relentless amount of Norwich City pressure, the visitors were unable to make it count, and Bromley end up victorious over The Canaries for the third meeting in a row. This sees The Ravens sit in second position in Group H, with half the group stage games now played.

Next up for Bromley is a trip to The North East to face Sunderland on the 1st December whilst Norwich make the shorter round trip to Colchester the day after.
